Introduction
This project will assist rehabilitation in providing a women's health clinic meeting basic health needs of approximately 2000 women and children from "Qulla e Pahlawan" and surrounding villages together with vocational training for children and adults.
Vision
To see rural Afghans learning and working together in the well-equipped, conducive environment of a community centre where woman and children are receiving basic health care, traditional art and crafts are being made, children are learning to read and write while men return from the markets with huge smiles.
Background
For the past 23 years of war, the Shamoli area strategically has been the battlefield, leaving destroyed homes and village infrastructure. Villagers with no option but to flee their villages and resettle as displaced people in other parts of Afghanistan. The health needs of the women and children are not being met.
Goals/Aims
In response to the needs assessment, "From Chaos to Community" has the overall aims:

To construct a community centre with classrooms, a vocational training centre, a meeting place for the community and a mother-and-child heath clinic.
The vocational training centre will be used
- To train agriculture/ farming techniques
- To train basic construction techniques - "teach people how to build their houses".
- To train traditional arts and crafts, and
- To teach embroidery
A special focus will be adults and youths who missed their education.
- To purchase a vehicle for use as an ambulance.
Methodology
The project will comprise of a construction phase, a set up phase and running phase. The construction will involve the building of a 16-room community centre, including the following: vocational training centre, classrooms, clinic and conference room and guest rooms. This will take 6 months to complete. The set up phase will take a month and include setting up the vocational training facility, classrooms and clinic with appropriate equipment, furniture and staff. The running costs have been budgeted for 12 months. Sale of produced arts and crafts and the income from guest rooms will subsidizes future running costs.
